Hoosiers beat Kentucky in OT

The IU men's soccer team earned its first home win of the season, and it came off the head of sophomore midfielder Brian Ackley.\nAckley scored the lone goal of the match in the 94th minute of overtime to beat the University of Kentucky 1-0.\n"We've had many team talks," Ackley said. "I feel like this one will get us going through the rest of the season. (It) will get the fight back in us."\nWith the Hoosiers and Wildcats playing to what appeared to be the cream and crimson's second tie in as many games, sophomore midfielder John Mellencamp lobbed a ball from the right to the left side of the field to Ackley. The 6-foot-2 Ackley headed it past Wildcat goalkeeper Dan Williams and into the back right corner of the net.\nThe goal was Ackley's fourth of the season, which ties him for team lead with freshman forward Darren Yeagle.\nThe Hoosiers played the final 13 minutes of the game with a one-man advantage. Kentucky defender Nathan Marks -- who attended the same high school in Louisville, Ky., as Yeagle and IU senior midfielder John Michael Hayden -- was kicked out of the game in the 78th minute after receiving his second yellow card of the night.\nThough Williams allowed the winning goal, the Wildcat made five saves. IU goalkeeper Chay Cain stopped three Wildcat shots. The Hoosiers outshot Kentucky 15-6 and dominated the game tempo.\nThe game was delayed one hour because of lightning in the area.\nThe IU victory places the team two games over the .500 mark at 6-4-2.\nThe Hoosiers re-enter conference play Sunday with a game at Michigan State.\n"Hopefully this carries through the weekend, carries on through the season," Ackley said.
