In its first postseason tournament, since the 2000-01 season, the IU women's basketball team refused to go quietly in its second-round WNIT game against Indiana State in Terre Haute. With IU down 59-58 to the Sycamores in the closing minutes, senior guard Cyndi Valentin -- in her only postseason as a Hoosier -- took over, scoring IU's last 10 points of the game. Valentin's scoring barrage included a 3-pointer, one three-point play and four-consecutive free throws down the stretch that iced the 68-62 IU victory.\n"As far as the team, we didn't want to end our careers like that," Valentin said after the March 20 win. "We wanted to fight, stay alive and keep playing."\nValentin led all scorers for the game with 20 points. In the Hoosiers' next game at Marquette, the senior guard scored 10 straight points once again late in the game. This time, however, her last shot did not find the net as IU lost 57-54 to the Golden Eagles in the Elite Eight of the WNIT. The Hoosiers finished the season with 19 wins, the most since the 2000-01 season. After the successful campaign, IU coach Sharon Versyp resigned and headed to rival Purdue. The Hoosiers then hired Felisha Legette-Jack from Hofstra University.
