MORE TO INDIANA THAN JUST CORN

Looking for an action packed way to spend the day, well there is

Indiana Beach Amusement Resort is located in Monticello, IN and boasts five unique roller coasters for attendees' enjoyment.

The Hoosier Hurricane\nA wooden roller coaster that offers thrills as the track skims Lake Shafer. This coaster claim to fame is that it "began the Indiana wooden coaster renaissance and the grandfather of Indiana roller coasters!"

The Cornball Express\nThe pleasure of a ride was voted the #1 wooden roller coaster in the world by ThemeParkCritic.com in 2002, is an exciting ride for any theme park goers.

The Lost Coaster of \nSuperstitious Mountain\nThis one is more of a treat for younger crowds with it's mixture of special effects and roller coaster fun sit back as the track takes riders past animatronics.

Galaxi\nNotably this is the parks oldest ride. Built in 1971 this ride offers fast paced fun for riders, finishing them off with a helix finale. Oh yeah...

Tig'rr\nAnother of the parks older rides this is an enjoyable way to spend a few minutes for riders of all ages. Built on the rooftop of a preexisting building may not sound safe to you, but... well no, I guess that doesn't sound very safe at all.\nSix Flags Great America in Gurnee IL is a must for any fan of fast, fun rides. This may be the best option for Midwesterners as far as excitement and roller coasters are concerned. There's something for everyone with the plethora of roller coaster rides available. \n \nRaging Bull\nNo it's not a Marty Scorsese themed ride, but it's still a rockin' roller coaster that takes riders to speeds exceeding 70 miles per hour.

Superman\nUltimate Flight is a terrifying ride. It's unique in that after strapping in riders, the holsters shift and participants lie down facing the sky and are given the chance to experience flight from the perspective of Superman. Which is... \nyou know... pretty awesome...

Batman the Ride\nThe coolest part of this ride is the wait in line. Riders gain the experience of being an inhabitant of Gotham City as they attempt to evacuate the city for unspecified reasons. Riders sit in "skilift-style chairs... with nothing but air beneath their dangling feet." A fun escape from Gotham next time Ra's Al Ghul attempts to fill the Narrows with toxins...

Ragin' Cajun\nAlthough the comic theme may lead you to believe this terrifyingly terrific coaster is fashioned after everyone's favorite Nawlin's based X-Man, it's not. Different company all together. This coaster's claim to fame is it's the "only coaster of its type in the Midwest, Ragin' Cajun will zigzag guests through 1,378 feet of quick twists, tight curves and breathtaking drops." It is a damn good time and highly recommended.

Déjà Vu\nThis is the one of the more unique roller coasters on this list as it has a boomerang effect where riders "will experience ultimate thrills flying forwards and backwards over twisting, looping inverted steel track." For brave riders only.

Vertical Velocity (V2)\nThis ride intensely mashes the rider from 0 10 70 mph within four seconds. The ride passes riders between two towers to \ncreate a sort of see-saw effect for the rider. Not to be passed up no matter what the line length...\nno matter...

More...\nOther roller coasters worth mentioning are the Viper, American Eagle, Demon, and the Iron Wolf. Guys who ride the Iron Wolf should be wary though, and bend your knees more than you think you ought to. You'll thank me on those dips.

Closer to home than Gurnee however is King's Island. Located three hours away in Mason, OH, this park is more than worth the drive. Owned by Paramount, this park offers movie themed rides, although not to the degree as Universal Studios in Florida.

Vortex\nThis one is the world's first six-inversion roller coaster and may not be the fastest Coaster out there, but that doesn't take away from it's twisted track fun.

Top Gun\nThis one isn't as much fun as the others, but then again what do you expect from a ride based on Tony Scott's worst film. You can be my wingman any day...

Face/Off\nThis roller coaster sits riders facing each other so they can watch the expression on each others faces. Again, it's a fun roller coaster, but not quite built for speed.

Flight of Fear\nThis ride catapults riders from the first moment on the track. Substituting traditional chain-lift methods for getting up the first hill with laser beams and electricity, this ride is a unique experience not seen much this side of Orlando. This one is certainly worth a wait.

Son of the Beast\nWow. This is one hell of a roller coaster. It's claimed to be "The Tallest, Fastest and Only Looping Wooden Coaster on the Planet" and makes up for some of the slower coasters at the park by exceeding 78 mph.\nThe Beast\nThis is the world's longest wooden roller coaster and features a twin helix. It's a good time for any wooden roller coaster fans out there.

Another point of interest for any Nickelodeon fans, King's Island now features Nickelodeon Universe, and area devoted to the characters and shows of the network. It promises to be great fun.\nThese are only a handful or so of the attractions that inhabit and surround Indiana. Each would be a safe bet for a fun afternoon.
