Ivy Tech Career Expo open to all Bloomington students

47 companies will recruit employees at annual event today

Ivy Tech Community College will be holding its 2006 Career Expo on the Bloomington campus today from 1:30 to 4 p.m. \nThis is the ninth year Ivy Tech has put on the Career Expo, which normally brings in about 40 companies and attracts close to 200 students. The expo is typically for Ivy Tech students, alumni, prospective students and transfers, which include IU students, but all students from the Bloomington area may attend, said Katie T. Anderson, a representative from Ivy Tech's Career and Employment Services.\n"In the past, it has been a \ncommunity-wide event," Anderson said. "It's pretty open." \nAnderson said the Career Expo is a great benefit to students because it enables them to begin planning for future careers. The expo is an opportunity for students to see what skills and experience are required to obtain jobs they want, she said.\n"I think it will help students prepare for their career surge," she said. "It will also let them know what types of positions recruiters are hiring for." \nThis year's expo will include 47 local and national employers, including Fifth Third Bank, The Herald-Times, Sam's Club, Monroe Bank, Bloomington Hospital, Wendy's and Chase Bank, according to the Ivy Tech Web site.\nFor more information about the expo and a full list of employers attending, visit the Ivy Tech Web site at www.bloomington.ivytech.edu or call Katie T. Anderson at 330-6018.
