Little 500 rider: Team Cutters

Greg Buhay, a senior majoring in business, is better known for what he does outside of the classroom. Buhay is the "business man" of the Cutters cycling team because he keeps the team's organization under control, but also has the crazy jokes and sense of humor to keep his teammates going on their six-to seven-hour rides. So when he's training hours upon hours a week and spending 75 percent of his college days with his team, here is why Team Cutters has had such an impact on this Pittsburgh native's life:

The need for speed\nBuhay's first Little 500 experience his freshman year was in the stands cheering on the guys on the track and having a good time. But for Buhay, that wasn't enough.\n"This was just something I really wanted to do. I couldn't stand being in the stands. I was a swimmer in high school and I needed something to do in the line of sports."\nBuhay knew the Cutters had a strong and competitive training program, so his decision to join the team was fairly simple.\n"They have a long-standing history of doing really well, and I knew I wanted to be a part of that."

What he brings to the table, or track\n"We've trained harder each and every year. Together, we've learned more about cycling and how to do it right."\nAlthough Buhay claims he is "by far the worst guy on the team," his humble attitude just might possibly be why he is so successful on the track.\n"What's kept me with cycling is that I've learned so many lessons from life from cycling: patience, humility and how to put aside short-term gain for long-term success."

In the name of the team\nSo what makes this team stronger than the rest in Buhay's eyes?\n"Teamwork. It doesn't come down to one person on the team, it's the combination of every person that pushes everyone to make us stronger."\nHe says his teammates are his "best friends in the entire world," although they are all 100 percent different. \n"Sometimes it's challenging to be with the same people all the time, but at the same time we take advantage of that. And every April, you're reminded of why you do it, because we're all in it together."\nBuhay says come Saturday, the team is going to go out there and do the best job it possibly can on the track.\n"My goal is to put everything I can down on the track to make the job that much easier for my teammates." \nAs for the outlook for this weekend's race?\n"Victory or not, it's all about whether the stars align for you on race day or not"
