It was the most talked-about movie of the year and was the start of a love affair between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Having been highly publicized, expectations of the movie were high, and "Bourne Identity" director Doug Liman delivers. \nHaving no relation to Alfred Hitchcock's film of the same name, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" revolves around John (Pitt) and Jane Smith (Jolie), a married, suburbanite couple, whose ordinary relationship seems normal. The couple begins to see a marriage counselor. It turns out that both John and Jane have been keeping one important secret from each other; they are both professional assassins who travel the world killing bad guys, all while trying to make it home in time for dinner. When they are both hired by their employers to kill the same person, they get in each other's way and the job becomes a bust.\nThings become really complicated when they are ordered to kill the person who made them miss the target, and they have 48 hours to do so. Now the battle is on as John and Jane attempt to kill each other.\nPacked with action and a bit of comedy (Vince Vaughn costars, bringing most of the film's laughs), the plot offers numerous twists that keep the audience entertained for a majority of the film's two hours. Pitt and Jolie make for the perfect onscreen couple as they are both likeable, good looking and bring major sex appeal to the screen; the two have remarkable chemistry with one another.\n"Mr. and Mrs. Smith" started out strong, catching my eye and even had me sitting on the edge of my seat through some scenes. The film, full of good one-liners, has a couple good fight sequences. It is definitely a classic "action" movie, very typical, and can be watched over and over and still remain entertaining. \nWhile the film was enjoyable, the special features included on the DVD to be disappointing. The special features are the average deleted scenes and commentaries. Although, also included is a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of one of the film's action-packed scenes. The movie is so full of action, that it would have been nice to get more of inside look on the making of the action scenes, the preparation the stuntsmen underwent for the scenes, along with how the scenes were done. \nAll in all, the movie as a whole is impressive. The exciting, suspenseful movie would get along best with more mature audiences (teenagers and older). However, given the PG-13 rating, the movie might even be a hit for families.
