A motorcycle accident Sunday night at the Herman B Wells Library parking lot sent the rider to the hospital, according to an IU Police Department officer. \nAt 7:48 p.m. Sunday, an IUPD cadet was working in the library when he heard the sound of a crash outside, said IUPD Sgt. Andy Stephenson. \nA Honda motorcycle collided with a jeep grand Cherokee on the side of the parking lot farthest from the library. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, Stephenson said.\nIUPD officers and a Bloomington Hospital ambulance arrived on the scene where shards of plastic and metal were strewn across the pavement. \nThe male riding the motorcycle was driving south through the parking lot when his vehicle was struck by a northbound jeep making a left turn, said Frank Hrisomalos, a student who witnessed the accident. \nHrisomalos watched from afar, but said it looked like the driver was driving at an unsafe speed, he said.\nStephenson said the two female passengers in the Jeep were unharmed.\nPolice reports were not available at press time.
