Police imposters abduct student

A student reported his wallet and passport had been stolen after he was abducted Tuesday morning by two people posing as police, according to the IU Police Department. \nSgt. Craig Monroe said the student told officers that about 2:30 a.m. he was standing at the Sample Gates when a white vehicle with the word "police" written on the side stopped next to him, according to police reports.\nTwo young adults, a man and a woman, dressed like police officers, got out of the car and asked the student if he'd been drinking. When he said yes, he was told he was under arrest for public intoxication. He was handcuffed and placed in the vehicle, which he described as "possibly a hatchback," according to police reports. \nThe imposters dropped the student off in front of his McNutt residence.\nHe reported to IUPD that his abductors had stolen his wallet, containing his credit card, ID and passport. \nHe described the suspects to the police as each wearing a dark blue uniform with a "shield-shaped patch" on the shoulder. IUPD Lt. Greg McClure pointed out this does not match the IUPD or Bloomington Police Department shoulder patches, which are shaped like a star and the state of Indiana, respectively. \nThe male was described as white, mid-20s, 6 feet 2 inches tall, short dark hair, dark eyes with a muscular build. The female was white, 15- to 17-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 120 pounds, dark hair in a ponytail, with dark eyes and an olive complexion, according to police reports. \nIUPD is currently investigating the case.
