The insight into a hardcore Boston Red Sox fan cannot be summed up any better. "Fever Pitch" is the latest installment of the great comedic string of movies created by the Farrelly brothers. These brothers brought together the elements of a romantic comedy better than many recent movies. As it may not hold as big a bat as a couple of their previous comedies, "Dumb and Dumber" and "Shallow Hal," it certainly is one worth watching.\nThis movie is based on schoolteacher Ben Wrightman (Jimmy Fallon) and his lifelong love, the Boston Red Sox. After scaring off all his previous girlfriends with his intense love for the Sox, Ben meets Lindsey Meeks (Drew Barrymore) who thinks this is no problem compared to her problems with other men. What she doesn't know is that nothing can take Ben away from the Red Sox.\nShot during the magical 2004 season, this movie captures much more than the Red Sox championship run. The history behind the Boston Red Sox organization and the Curse of the Bambino is explained brilliantly to help people who aren't sports fans to understand the story.\nThe "Fever Pitch: Boston Red Sox Collector's Edition" DVD has all the special features that audiences come to expect plus much more. Highlighting the story isn't as difficult, as it is one of the more famous stories in sports, but it is extraordinary to watch just how hard it was to change in only a few days, the original ending due to the Red Sox unexpected actual season. If that isn't enough, there is an alternate ending with extra clips and highlights for all who live and die with the Sox.\nIn most aspects this was a good film that was a blurry mix between a "chick flick" and a factual sports story. Bobby Farrelly put it great in saying, "It's a real blend between a great fictionalized story and reality." This blend makes it a delightful compromise for any couple looking for a good movie. This won't win any awards, but it certainly is a film that any fan of the Farrelly brothers should not miss.
Not a bad 'fever'
