- June 1993: Indiana lawmakers vote to allow 11 riverboat casinos in the state, including one on Patoka Lake in Orange County.
- April 1995: State Senate rejects an effort to transfer the Patoka Lake casino license to the West Baden Springs Hotel after the Army Corps of Engineers, which oversees the lake, prohibits a riverboat on it.
- September 2003: Five groups, including groups involving billionaire Donald Trump and Indiana Pacers executive Larry Bird, an Orange County native, submit casino proposals to the Indiana Gaming Commission.
- November 2003: Orange County residents vote nearly 2-1 in favor of the casino.
- July 2004: State gaming commission awards casino contract to Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, which had proposed a $108 million project.
- November 2004: Trump Hotels files for bankruptcy protection. A company attorney says Trump still plans to break ground on the Orange County project by the end of March 2005.
- March 2: Trump drops its Orange County plans after Gov. Mitch Daniels requests a review of the company's ability to complete the project.
- April 11: A partnership involving Bloomington billionaire William Cook announces plans for a casino and hotel project in Orange County.
- June 23: Indiana Gaming Commission gives initial approval to a $250 million proposal from Blue Sky Casino, a partnership between medical device maker Cook Group Inc. and real estate developer Lauth Group Inc. of Indianapolis.
- Aug. 9: Groundbreaking ceremony held in Orange County.
