Violin stolen from Musical Arts Center

A student reported the theft of a $600 violin from the Musical Arts Center to the IU Police Department Friday. The theft of the violin, which the student was renting from the IU School of Music, occurred Sept. 13, according to IUPD reports. \nThe student left sight of the violin at 6 p.m. and came back from the restroom to find the violin gone at 6:10 p.m. IUPD Lt. Jerry Minger said the IUPD currently has no suspects or leads in the case. \nThe violin incident comes after a string of music school thefts leading to the arrest of a music school janitor. In the last year, thefts at the Musical Arts Center and the IU School of Music have included $1,000 in checks and cash from a lockbox, a $20,000 violin, a $5,000 violin bow and $5,400 worth of video equipment.
