Convention week starts with a party\nNEW YORK -- Vice President Dick Cheney made an appearance at the Republican National Convention Sunday for a sound check on the stage inside Madison Square Garden. Cheney read from a teleprompter and adjusted the podium to his liking for Wednesday's speech.
Bashes highlight Sunday evening\nNEW YORK -- On the same night Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bush daughters share the spotlight -- in two different locations. The rock band performed Sunday night at the New York nightclub Crobar. The band, famous for the song "Freebird," played at a reception honoring Southern Congressional Delegations at the "Southern Tribute, Volume II with Lynyrd Skynyrd." At the same time, the president's daughters, Jenna and Barbara, hosted "R: The Party" at the Roseland Ballroom. The 75-year-old room has been host to some of the biggest names in music, and Sunday night featured young and emerging artists and one of New York's top DJ's.
