Drake: 'Made to Love Music'

Many artists' work isn't really discovered until after they are gone. Nick Drake is no exception; he only completed three albums before his death, but many tape recordings that were not released on the original three have made their way to the public. The recordings on Made to Love Magic are not an actual anthology of unreleased material, in fact, most have been on previous albums, but now they have been remixed or outtakes have been added back in. The only song that was not made available earlier is "Tow the Line," an acoustic performance that is rumored to be the last piece Drake taped. \nThe title track, "Made to Love Magic," is built just around the word "Magic," a floating, melancholic song with wistful singing and flutes enchanting the background. A troubled love song is suitable for this singer and "Clothes of Sand" stands out as such. The cut "Black Eyed Dog" is a haunting number showing how something seemingly simple can still hold its own beauty. \nSince there are not many "new" tracks to this record, it may seem worthless to Drake collectors. But contrary to this belief, it is mysterious and spellbinding like much of Drake's work, and is something worth lending an ear to.
