'The Simpsons' deliver after long wait

Even though it seemed like an eternity, "The Simpsons: The Complete Fourth Season" DVD was well worth the wait.\nSeason Four is definitely one of the most outstanding seasons in "The Simpsons" canon. Episodes like "Homer's Triple Bypass" and "Brother From Another Planet" make it memorable with tons of hilarious moments. Some characters are still in conceptual stages like Ralph Wiggum who, instead of whining about mommies and kitties, makes observant and even witty observations. The style of animation still looks a bit dated, but is very close to the modern style we're used to. This season maintains a constant stride with simple storylines that allow for comedic tangents, but also for a few tender moments that make "The Simpsons" stand out from the rest of the television landscape.\nFox totally delivers on the extras this time around with commentaries on every episode (including two with Conan O'Brien) that are always entertaining and informative. There are a few featurettes; one of which deals with the city of New Orleans being greatly offended by the "Oh! Streetcar" episode. For truly hardcore animation fans, there are also animatics and storyboards.\nSimply put, "The Simpsons: The Complete Fourth Season" is a necessary addition to any budding DVD collection.
