Rare astronomical event will be \nvisible Tuesday \nThe astronomy department will hold a viewing of the transit of Venus from 5 to 6 a.m., Tuesday atop the Atwater Parking Garage.\nThe rare astronomical event involves the passing of Venus in front of the Sun. The last recorded transit took place in 1882.\nThe viewing will last about 30 minutes. Viewers will witness only the last minutes of the transit, as it will be in progress as the Sun rises.\nMembers of the Stonebelt Stargazers will be traveling from Bedford to assist at the viewing.\nThe viewing is open to the public -- weather permitting -- and parking will be available in the Atwater Garage.\nAstronomers warn those attempting to view the transit not to look directly at the Sun with binoculars or telescopes unless they are equipped with special filters.\nFor more information on the event, contact Caty Pilachowski of the astronomy department or visit www.astro.indiana.edu .\nBiology department sponsors seminar series\nThe biology department will hold a seminar series starting at 4 p.m., tonight in Myers Hall, Room 130.
