The Buskirk-Chumley Theater will be showcasing national and international works produced by amateurs and professionals. Volunteers are needed to help decorate, take tickets, hand out programs and clean. Donations Needed\nThe Bloomington Playwrights Project, which offers late-night shows and theatrical performances, needs some wishes granted. Marketing director Candace Decker said the Bloomington Playwrights Project began its "Grant a Wish" program through the Bloomington Volunteer Network because it was a wonderful way to find items essential to the theater. The wish list consists of the following items, but is not limited: industrial grade vacuum cleaner, shop vacuum, paper towels, black/color ink for epson stylus color 1160 printer, copy paper (any color), photo paper 8.5x11, toilet paper and hand soap. The theater is located at Third and Washington Streets, across from the police station. \nTo make donations, contact Candace Decker at 334-1188 or send an e-mail to bppwrite@newsplays.org

Up-up And Away!\nAssistants are needed for a first-time event in Bloomington May 15 that gives children the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite superheroes from the police and fire departments. Help is needed with set-up and tear-down, games, crafts and contests. Special services coordinator Kim Ecenbarger said the event allows children to demonstrate their own "superhero" capabilities in activities like throwing contests and comic book activities where they can develop their own heroes. Ecenbarger said the event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Frank Southern Ice Arena located at 1965 S. Henderson St. \nFor more information, contact Kim Ecenbarger at 349-3739 or send an e-mail to ecenbark@bloomington.in.gov.
