Student reports robbery attempt at Ashton Center

IU Police Department officers responded to a call of an attempted robbery Sunday morning at the Northeast corner of Ashton-Weatherly. At 4 a.m, the victim was returning from the Village Pantry located at the corner of 10th and Union streets when he was approached by two black men.\nThe victim was grabbed around the neck and told not to move while one of the suspects searched the victim's body for a wallet. \nThe victim was able to escape and ran toward the north entrance to Weatherly, as the suspects fled south toward Seventh Street. The victim said he did not believe the suspects were carrying weapons and was not injured during the incident.\nIUPD described the first suspect who choked the victim as a black male, 6 feet tall, 180 to 190 pounds, wearing a red baggy baseball jacket with a logo or lettering on the back, gray baggy workout pants and a baseball cap. \nThe second suspect was described as a black male, about 5 foot 7 inches tall, 170 to 180 lbs, wearing a baggy dark colored jacket and baggy workout pants.\nAnyone with information about the incident or who could be a witness is advised to call IUPD at 855-4111.
