IU Theatre and Drama Center announces season\nThe IU Department of Theatre and Drama announced its 2004-2005 season Wednesday with eight shows for the IU and Bloomington communities. Fall semester productions include "Dracula," by Steven Dietz, "Bat Boy, the Musical," by Keythe Farley, "The Cherry Orchard," by Anton Chekhov and "Happy Birthday Wanda June," by Kurt Vonnegut. Spring shows include "The Bacchae," by Euripides, "Master Harold ... and the Boys," by Athol Fugard, "The Scarlet Letter," by Phyllis Nagy and "Pal Joey," based on John O'Hara's book. The Center offers three subscription plans, one of which includes a full season subscription to all eight plays for $104. For more information about subscriptions and tickets, call 855-0514.

Boxcar Books presents Rock 'n' Roll prom\nBloomington's Boxcar Books and Community Center, will hold its second annual Rock 'n' Roll Prom as a fundraiser at 10 p.m. Saturday at Second Story. The show will also benefit the Midwest Pages to Prisoners Project, which has been sending books to prisoners for nine years. The 21-and-over show features "The Nicotones," playing prom-style covers, "The Coke Dares," covering as "The Cocaine and the Abels" playing classic rock-style covers and "His 'n 'hers," playing Pulp covers. DJ Mother Truckers will spin records, and the event will be emceed by Rebecca Ann Rakstad and Brooke Hill. Doors open at 9:30 p.m., and the bands will perform at 10 p.m. at Second Story Nightclub, located at 201 S. College Ave. Tickets are $6 each or $10 per couple. For more information, call 339-8710.

Mathers Museum hosts fiesta\nThe Centro Comunal Latino, Inc. (Latino Community Center) will hold its public opening celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. tonight at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, located at 416 N. Indiana Ave. The "Fiesta Comunal" is a benefit for the Latino Community Center and will feature a silent auction, food, international booths, open exhibits, live entertainment, speakers and dance. Artists include Sanchocho (Afro-Cuban music), Sonido Cancervero (DJ -- Variety Latin) and IU Essence. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. The event is sponsored by the Multicultural Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association, La Casa, Individualized Major Program, Latino Enhancement Cooperative and Mathers Museum of World Cultures.
