'Schizophrenic' more like 'Nymphomaniac'

JC Chasez was diagnosed with the wrong disease. The former *NSYNC-er's recently-released solo debut, entitled Schizophrenic, should have hit stores with the more appropriate title of Nymphomaniac. There is an absurd amount of sexual innuendoes, most of which are downright funny considering JC used to run around wearing mouse-ears on "The Mickey Mouse Club" a decade ago.\nOne track consists of Chasez crooning the chorus "All Day Long I Think About Sex" over and over, and another song features a bunch of moaning girls, which is incredibly distracting. Aside from the greasiness of most of the lyrics, the production efforts are good for a pop album, and there are some standout tracks which could be club-worthy. JC co-wrote and co-produced all 15 songs, and in doing so manages to explore a bunch of different genres, including techno ("Come to Me"), reggae ("Everything You Want") and Enrique-type Latin beats ("Dear Goodbye"), one of the three ballads.\nThe diversity of the record does keep things interesting enough, but JC's vocals do not. His voice sounds overproduced and fake, and except for some girly wailing on a few tracks, his range is not impressive either. Still, if you like JC's "twin brother," J.T. (Justin Timberlake) and you like music which both you and your 5-year-old cousin can enjoy together while making brownies in her E-Z Bake Oven, you've got a winner here.
