City Lights screens award-winning film\nIU's City Lights will present "On the Waterfront" from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Ballantine Hall Room 013, with free admission and free parking in Ballantine parking lots. Filmed in and around the docks of New York and New Jersey, "On the Waterfront" matches the method-acting style of star Marlon Brando with realistic location shooting and a script that resonates with McCarthy-era issues. The film's portrayal of a dock worker-turned-informant has been read as a justification for director Elia Kazan's own testimony before Senator Joe McCarthy's hearings. The film won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay (Bud Schulberg), Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress for Eva Marie Saint.
