The volunteer opportunities offered by the vast number of organizations and institutions throughout Bloomington leave students with innumerable occasions to get involved and give back to the community. The Bloomington Volunteer Network works with IU as well as other businesses, agencies and non-profit corporations to promote these opportunities. Here are a few opportunities that are calling for volunteers this month.
Interested In being a council member? \nJoin the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department on its Inclusive Recreation Advising Council. The two volunteers selected to be a part of this council will help make recreational and sports facilities and activities available to people with disabilities by informing the community about the department's inclusion area, which is in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act and other disability legislation. Meetings for the council are held the second Thursday of every month and terms for each of the volunteer members last until Dec. 31, 2004 and Dec. 31, 2005. The deadline for applicants is February 29. \nFor details or to get an application, contact Alicia Goldsmid at 349-3718 or send an e-mail to goldsmia@city.bloomington.in.us.
