The sad state of 'Britpop'

I'll admit it; I bought Britney Spears' new album In The Zone. And I'm not going to lie, I was pretty excited about it. \nMy excitement was wasted.\nAfter all the hype about a revamped Britney, I was expecting something more than a desperate attempt to be Christina Aguilera. Brit's trying to add shock value to her latest release by recording tracks about her sex drive, partying all night and wearing sexy clothes. If she wants to shock, why doesn't she just make out with Madonna again?\nI didn't learn anything from Zone I didn't already know; Spears can't sing, but covers it up with juvenile tracks, such as "Outrageous" in which the title is repeated 42 times (yeah, I counted).\nActually, that's not true -- I did learn one thing from the album: Spears likes to masturbate so much that she wrote a song about it (for all you horny boys, it's "Touch Of My Hand").\nThe best part of the album -- and when I say best I mean worst -- is the song dedicated to her ex Justin Timberlake, which only reveals she still dreams about him, maybe while feeling the touch of her hand? Hmmm.\nMy advice to Britney: Stick with posing half-naked in magazines and making out with girls and leave the singing to the real artists.
