First, we have to agree that no compilation put out by Tori Amos could ever satisfy everyone. It's just not possible. For those looking for all of one's favorites or even her most popular songs, one will need to burn one's own CD. \nWhat this cleverly titled collection does offer is a catalog of songs that have been reconditioned by Tori (as well as two new tracks and two re-recorded b-sides). No dramatic changes have been made, but the subtle shifting of string arrangements and background vocals have a very delicate yet formidable effect. \nOf her two new songs, only "Snow Cherries From France," an innocent ode to first love and folklore, impresses while the very appropriately political "Angels" is fine, but the execution is ultimately overproduced with the piano being overshadowed by synthesized sounds. \nBut, like all Tori songs, it will find its place with fans. In her ballad to the almighty "God," Tori's whispered biblical verse can now be heard very clearly and adds new insight to the song. \nIncluded with the CD is a bonus DVD that features three live performances from one of Tori's tour sound checks. \nThis is a marvelous way to visit or introduce someone to Tori's vast library. Here's hoping she won't stay away for too long.
