Professor speaks on mathematical beauty\nThe Department of History and Philosophy Science is hosting a lecture by Professor Michael Dickson entitled "Dirac: Mathematical Beauty, and Mathematical Physics." Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac was an influential physicist who made many crucial contributions to quantum mechanics, the theory which describes the world on very small scales, and shared the 1933 Nobel Prize for Physics. Former president of Liberia joins panel discussion\nThe IU African Students' Association is presenting a panel discussion on Liberia, its history, politics and foreign policy. The discussion will take place from 4 to 6 p.m., today, at Woodburn Hall, room 101. Dr. Amos Sawyer, co-director of IU Workshop on Political Theory and Analysis and former interim president of Liberia from 1995-1997, will speak on how he supervised elections after the 1995 ceasefire.\nOther featured panelists include Dr. John Stanfield, an IU professor of African American Studies, who recently edited a book on the US-Liberian connection, "Bittersweet Canaan", Dr. Claude Clegg, an IU history professor who is currently writing a book on the emigration of black North Carolinians to Liberia during the nineteenth century, Cheryl Broderick, a Ph.D. student and a Liberian citizen who witnessed part of the war and fled with her family to seek asylum in the United States, and Dr. Scott Pegg, an IU-Purdue University Indianapolis political science professor who specializes in American foreign policy, war and conflict, globalization, and international relations.\nFor more information, log on to www.indiana.edu/~iuasa.
