The DVD release of "Chicago" is a triumph equal to the triumph of the movie. A Behind the Scenes segment includes commentary by director Rob Marshall, screenwriter Bill Condon and costume designer Colleen Atwood. The segment moves easily between shots of the actors working in pre-production and shots of the finished product (these actors worked it) and presents the movie as the result of all the pieces coming magically together. In the words of director Rob Marshall, regarding the cast, he "really lucked out." \nThe documentary ends with the music video of the sexy "All That Jazz", performed by Catherine Zeta-Jones. The Special Features section also features a deleted scene featuring a musical number called "Class." This scene is worth watching simply to see Queen Latifah in questionably male attire. \nThe DVD also offers a feature commentary with Marshall and Condon, which offered more than a few tasty tidbits and is surprisingly funny. This is one case where the little extras really make the \nmovie more enjoyable. "Chicago" is a fantastic movie, but it's also easy to be overwhelmed by the music, dancing and extravagance of the eye candy. The special features are a guide to the fantastic film and really make for a deeper appreciation of the movie. For the "Chicago" enthusiast or the casual fan, the special features of the DVD release definitely make it worth checking out.
A hell of a town... and DVD, too
