Shaw named interim dean of SLIS

Debora Shaw, associate dean of the School of Library and Information Sciences, has been appointed the school's interim dean. \nShaw replaces Blaise Cronin, the current dean, who announced his decision to step down in January after leading the school for 12 years. \nShaw specializes in the humanities and the design of information retrieval sources. She also teaches courses on the information resources of the Internet. \nShaw has served as the president of the American Society for Information Science and Technology and received the Society's Watson Davis Award in 1993. She has been the associate dean for seven years.\nThe appointment was announced Tuesday by IU-Bloomington Chancellor Sharon Brehm and must be approved by the IU board of trustees.
