When you hear the name "Mortal Kombat" associated with any game, you would usually expect a winner. But when the co-creators of "Mortal Kombat" brought out "Tao-Feng: The Fist of the Lotus," a winner was the least of their worries. This new fighting game for the X-Box system attempts to be innovative and original in the genre, but fails miserably. With only 12 characters and stages, the game lacks the depth and charisma to be a favorite. "Tao-Feng" takes place in a futuristic Asian backdrop and pits two ancient sects of warriors against each other in the classic struggle between good and evil. Many times plots like these are fun and can be very different, but this game lacks any new or outstanding features that set it apart from the rest. The graphics could be considered above average, but the choppy gameplay and constant camera angle changes take away from what few positive aspects the game has. The moves are easy and boring, and the story mode is too short and lacks any real difficulty. This game isn't worth much more than the gas money it takes to drive to the rental store.
