Female student reports rape by acquaintance

A 22-year-old white female student reported to the IU Police Department that she was raped in her apartment on March 30 by someone she knew. \nThe suspected rapist is being punished through the University Judicial System, IUPD Lt. Jerry Minger said. \nThe two went out with friends that night to the bars, and then returned to her apartment, located south of East Hill Side Drive and West of Henderson. She indicated she did not want a sexual relationship, but he took it further by force, Minger said.\nThe woman asked that the rapist be punished by IU rather than arrested. She originally reported the assault to the Office of Women's Affairs before coming to the police on Tuesday.
