EA pro baseball game earns MVP

With baseball season starting up, it is only fitting that we take a look at Electronic Art's "MVP Baseball 2003." This game is leagues above its predecessor "Triple Play," and features baseball teams from the minors up to the bigs. One of the revamped options is the pitching mode, which allows for more controlled choice of location, speed and type of pitch. The game lacks precise defensive controls, but the new base-running and hitting features make up for the game's shortcomings. The best play mode is the Long Ball challenge, which replaces the Home Run Derby. In this mode, hitters square off against other batters as the distance of hits are tallied up; whomever reaches one mile first is declared the winner. This gets intense when considering that foul balls take away distance and swinging strikes subtract 100 feet as well. "MVP Baseball" is a lot of fun, and as always, the full season mode will provide days of enjoyment.
