Cave In's antenna gets poor reception

I think I am coming down with either amnesia or stomach problems. I just listened to Cave In's Antenna several times, and half of me can't remember anything about it. The other half passed through me like a bad taco.\nThis is lumbering, generic, self-important piffle. The band's major-label debut offers itself up as some sort of alternative to the mook rock of Linkin Bizkit. It's not. That's for The Hives or The Strokes. Instead, Cave In decided to strip itself of any personality. Nothing about Stephen Brodsky's vocals or Adam McGrath's guitars strike me as distinctive, just routine. They lack any attitude, as if Cave In fears being called a metal band. The band also confuses loud with fast, leaving the sound cluttered. It wants to be the American Radiohead with louder guitars, but Radiohead knows how to hold back sometimes. Cave In makes pseudosophisticated cacophony that goes nowhere.\nAntenna lacks memorable melodies as there's not enough to earn the classification of "art rock." If you have a fix for art rock, pick up the new Porcupine Tree or King Crimson records. Listening to those again should cure my amnesia. Or is it my stomach ache?
