Hundreds rally for mental health bill\nAbout 200 people rallied in the Statehouse rotunda Tuesday in support of a bill that would provide health insurance coverage for substance-abuse treatment.\nThe bill already has passed the Indiana House and is now before the Senate.\nStephen McCaffrey, president of the Mental Health Association in Indiana, said lawmakers need to offer parity for substance-abuse and mental-health treatments.\n"Invest in treatment -- it works," McCaffrey chanted with others attending the rally.\nSenators urge nightclub safety study\nThree state senators introduced a resolution Tuesday asking for an interim study of nightclub safety and the use of indoor pyrotechnics in Indiana.\nThe lawmakers -- Sens. Vi Simpson, D-Bloomington, Teresa Lubbers, R-Indianapolis, and Ron Alting, R-Lafayette -- also said they would try to amend another bill to ban indoor pyrotechnics unless the venue owner receives a permit from the state fire marshal.\n"We were surprised to learn that Indiana has no state law regulating the indoor use of pyrotechnics," Simpson said.
