Deja vu dribble, Sobel needs to do homework

Did Julie Sobel actually bother doing any kind of historical research for her article comparing the current situation with Iraq to Vietnam? (Oct. 15 "Deja vu all over again?") Not only was the "Domino Theory" plausible, it actually happened. Russia, China, North Korea. See a pattern? The reason why communism did not spread any further was our policy of containment. Vietnam was not lost because we failed to examine the repercussions of our actions, it was because of the "Armchair Generals." Washington was micromanaging the war, going so far as to give out orders to troops over whether or not to take the next hill. You can't win a war letting politicians call the shots on the battlefield when we can hardly even trust them to call the shots with our tax dollars. But Sobel was right about one thing. It is "Deja Vu All Over Again." I seem to recall the same dribble being written before the first Gulf War and even before we went into Afghanistan.
