Today's IU Law Day at the Indiana Memorial Union is a one-stop chance to meet with advisors from the nation's top law schools.\n"Attendance at Law Day is crucial for students considering law school now or in the near future," said Mac Francis, prelaw advisor with the Health Professions and Prelaw Information Center.\nApproximately 100 law schools from around the country will be represented. Admissions directors and deans from the various schools will be at the IMU in Alumni Hall between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. At the event, students will be able to meet with the admission officers about admission requirements, policies, placement and curriculum.\nPrior to the event, there will be a panel discussion in State Room East of the IMU. Four law school admission deans from around the country will discuss "What I Really Look for in a Law School Application." The discussion will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 11 a.m. Most of the session will be in a question and answer format. \n"It is very entertaining as well as informative," Francis said. "There are so many myths and misconceptions about what law schools want."\nThis year's event will be as big as the national forums held in New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. According to the U.S. News and World Report Law School rankings, 15 of the top 20 law schools in the nation will be represented. \n"This is an opportunity that many students don't have," said Dr. John Simpson, Director of the Health Professions and Prelaw Information Center.\nStudents will have the opportunity to talk one on one with the representatives about what they are looking for in a law school applicant.\n"Students come out very encouraged," Francis said. "They realized that schools look for more than just good grades and a high LSAT score. Schools want an accurate picture of the applicant.
