3rd Hoosier dies from West Nile

INDIANAPOLIS -- A third Indiana resident has died from a probable West Nile virus infection, state health officials said Monday.\nThe state Department of Health would identify the person only as someone older than 70 who was from northeastern Indiana's Allen County, spokeswoman Jennifer Dunlap said.\nThe death was reported to the state on Monday, but Dunlap said she did not know when the person died.\nMore than 100 probable or confirmed human cases of the mosquito-borne virus have been identified in Indiana, and it has been found in animals or mosquitoes in all parts of the state.\n"We have had some duplicate cases reported to us, so we are working to track that down," Dunlap said.\nTwo other people are believed to have died from the virus in Indiana. The latest case was the Sept. 8 death of a 72-year-old Muncie man. A 56-year-old Fort Wayne woman died Sept. 1.
