You'd be 'foolish' to pass this one up

Ashanti
Ashanti
Murder Inc. Records No one expected her to be this big, but the latest buzz in the music business is about R&B singer Ashanti. Her self-titled debut album was released April 9. Anyone who went to Target looking for her CD that afternoon found that all copies were sold out. It's no surprise considering she sold half a million albums in that week and held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart for the week as well. Ashanti played it smart by making a name for herself through duets with rappers Ja Rule ("Always on Time") and Fat Joe ("What's Luv?"). The downfall to those popular songs is that they are not featured on her album. But don't be disappointed, this new R&B star makes up for it with upbeat and slow jams that will get you hooked on her style and voice. Ashanti's current single, "Foolish," is topping charts everywhere. Apparently Ashanti and I have been with the same guy because I can feel her pain. I'd even go so far as to say that anyone could relate to the painful lyrics of "Foolish." She even goes back on her words in the song in "Unfoolish," with the same music but different, stronger lyrics that describe her finally getting over the jerk that was breaking her heart in "Foolish." Many of Ashanti's songs explore a feeling of love for someone that seems to be uncontrollable and surreal. She also covers the impossible tasks of trying to change the one you love, ending a relationship and dreaming that someday a special man will come into her life. The beats are incredible and the lyrics powerful. Ashanti's debut album didn't top the charts for no reason. The album rocks for being her first and expect to see more from her in the future. Ashanti covers all the bases of falling in and out of love. Grab your copy today before the stores run out again.
