I am a Malaysian Muslim, and I am profoundly disturbed by the recent attack on innocent American civilians in the very heart of the Big Apple. But it is too early to judge that people that share with this person's nationality and belief should be blamed and punished. \nAnd of course, 99 percent of the time we will project that that person would be an Arab Muslim. Everyone, including Muslims, are filled with anger and disgust, but sadly for Muslims who lost their relatives and friends -- not only they're disturbed by the attack, they are verbally attacked, generalized and harassed. \nMost top-broadcasting Web site message boards like CNN and ABC contain heavy outbursts of anger, as do opinions on the IDS Web site that generalize the recent attack with what is happening daily in Israel. The comments make it sound like Muslims are the underlying cause of every single misfortune that occurred in the face of the earth. \nThat reminds me of the Oklahoma City bombing where more than 200 cases of anti-Muslim harassment were reported. There is still a long way to find out who did this terrifying act. Linking the current terror with the so-called "Palestinian daily terrorism" will only fuel the flames of immature, discriminatory accusations. \nIn fact, the Palestinian celebration covered on CNN only involves about 50 people (not thousands), and I personally condemn those -- whether they share my belief or nationality or not -- who feel happy about the attack or those who feel the Muslims in general are relieved by the attack. It is still too early to link the attack with Palestinians. IF a few Palestinians did it, it is a discriminatory act to blame Palestinians in general are terrorists. And IF the Palestinians are Muslims, it is a discriminatory act to believe that Islam teaches people to hijack commercial planes and blow up two 110-story buildings to kiss the scent of the heavens.
