IU analyst charged in federal court

IU analyst Kevin Sochocki has been federally charged on counts of child pornography and remains in Marion County Jail awaiting a federal grand jury.\nSochocki, who pled not guilty on all counts June 28, now faces five federal counts, the more serious one being production of child pornography. Sochocki could face 10 to 20 years if found guilty of the charge. The charges span from March 2001 to May 2002.\nSochocki must enter a plea on the federal charges if the grand jury decides there is sufficient evidence to file a case. Sochocki has been on administrative leave from the Kelley School of Business since July 1. He will continue to be on leave from the school until the case is resolved. \nIn June, Sochocki pled not guilty to four charges of vicarious sexual gratification, four charges of child exploitation and one count of battery.\nThe Southern District of Indiana is now in charge of the case, taking it out of the hands of Monroe County Prosecutor Carl Salzmann.\nFirst Assistant U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of Indiana Tim Morrison is heading the case against Sochocki.\nMorrison said the reasoning behind the federal charges being brought against Sochocki is because of the seriousness of the production of child pornography.
