'IDS' editorial board acts in cowardice with Knight editorial

I was shocked to read the IDS' staff editorial of March 21 wishing former basketball coach Bob Knight luck in his possible new job at Texas Tech University. So Knight's not fit to coach at IU, but Texas Tech is just the luckiest University ever to get a coach of his caliber?\nWe're talking about a man who proved, time and time again, that he is incapable of working within the university chain of command to get his job done. We're taking about a man who feels the best way to teach basketball players is to hit them, verbally abuse them and throw temper tantrums. \nWe're talking about a man who couldn't bring himself not to grab an 18-year-old college freshman to "correct" his behavior. What must be wrong with a man his age that he feels the need to act this way to kids to make himself feel powerful?\nNot once, not twice, but three times did the IDS have the courage to speak out against Knight and his behavior. When I was opinion editor in Spring 2000, the staff took a stand and told the world it was time for Knight to leave IU, once and for all. We later encouraged Knight to change his behavior, and then supported the decision to have him removed.
