Monday night, the Panhellenic Association and the Interfraternity Council held their annual Installation ceremony inducting the newly elected 2002 executive board. Both the Panhellenic Association and the Interfraternity Council, along with chapter presidents, elected nine members each to fill such positions as president, vice president of membership development, vice president of finance and vice president of recruitment. \nSenior Ben Schmidt, the president for the Interfraternity Council for 2001, said the new council has what it takes to maintain the tradition of excellence that each chapter has established.\n"This group of nine men is very dedicated to their positions and they are going to be more than up to the task of leading our fraternity community," Schmidt said. "They have a vision of shaping our fraternity community back into the respected institution that it originally was and I believe that they will make definite progress in making that vision a reality."\nSenior Colin Godecke, newly elected president of the Interfraternity Council, said he is looking forward to his time in office.\n"The more I thought about running for president, the more I thought I would do a good job," Godecke said.\nGodecke plans on using his term to work past the issue of alcohol within the greek community through the established program, Training for Intervention Procedures, often referred to as TIPS, which helps to prevent the misuse of alcohol. Godecke also plans on reviewing Minimum Standards, a new policy that establishes universal standards such as grade point average and community involvement that must be completed by each chapter.\n"We are going to see what we can improve," Godecke said.\nJunior Leslie Fasone, newly elected president of the Panhellenic Association, said she plans on increasing communication between chapters and administrators with the Panhellenic Association. She said she anticipates a monthly newsletter to begin in February to help accomplish the goal.\n"I really want to make a difference on this campus," Fasone said. "This is where my heart is."\n
