Come forward with the truth

One year later, information needs to come out concerning Jill Behrman

Last May 31, Bloomington resident and student Jill Behrman disappeared while on a morning bike ride, and she has still not been found. Despite endless hours of searching and investigation by officials, there have been no promising leads to finding out what happened to her. It's time that the silence concerning her disappearance ends.\nDuring the past year, the police have had several different theories as to why Behrman disappeared. From a kidnapping to accidentally being hit by a motorist, numerous possibilities have come up, but none can be proven with the existing information. Through all of these theories, the police have held true to one belief -- that someone out there knows what happened but is afraid or unwilling to come out with the truth in fear of potential consequences. Substantial rewards have been offered for any information pertaining to her whereabouts or which lead to the conviction of her abductor, but nothing has come out in the open.\nIt is time to end the suffering for both the family and the friends of Behrman, and it's time for whomever out there knows something to tell what they know. For a year her family and the community have dealt with the pain of not only not knowing if they will ever see Jill again, but also not even knowing what happened to her. This is a pain that should be put to rest for the last time. \nIt is also important for the IU community to know what happened to Behrman, for their own piece of mind. Numerous students ride their bikes or go running around Bloomington, and its important to know that they can do this in safety and with piece of mind that they will be alright.\nWhat happened with Behrman is a tragedy; it was easy to tell it was, from the day after it happened to one year later. The incident can never be erased, revealing information would not be able to do that. But to allow Behrman's family to know what happened to their daughter, at least would allow them some peace of mind.
