BALTIMORE - The new mandate to remove sexually abusive priests from their parishes is as good as formally defrocking them, Roman Catholic Cardinal William Keeler said. "It does the job," Keeler, 71, said after returning from a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops where the new national policy was approved. "Our bishops' meeting yesterday took decisive steps...to cut out the cancer from our church, the cancer of child sexual abuse," he said. "We've begun the task, now we look for actions to match words"
