During Little 500 weekend, police officers from both the IU Police Department and Bloomington Police Department arrested about 27 people, primarily for illegal consumption and public intoxication.\nBloomington police reported more than 13 vandalism cases, 15 alcohol violations, 23 counts of larceny, and two attempted burglaries. Twenty total arrests were made by BPD. \nTwo men were arrested for more violent offenses. James McCormick, 20, and Charles T. Kraft, 20, both nonstudents, are being charged with several offenses, including robbery, after beating two men and stealing their wallets on Matlock Road near Varsity Villas Apartments.\nThe IUPD reported about 16 citations and seven arrests during the weekend, mostly for illegal consumption, public intoxication and possession of marijuana.\nLast year, 75 people were arrested during Little 500 weekend. In 1991, when riots broke out in Varsity Villas, about 400 were arrested.
