Ocean's 11
Starring: George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts
Directed by: Steven Soderbergh
George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Andy Garcia. Automatically if a movie includes any of these actors it should be a worthy choice. Now add Steven Soderbergh, the hottest director of the past few years, a Las Vegas casino heist, amazing visuals, a funny and twisting story and you get a great movie that you\'ll want to watch over and over again.
Technically the film is a remake of the Rat Pack\'s \"Ocean\'s 11,\" but in actuality the only similarities are that they both have a thief named Daniel Ocean and that thief wants to rob a Las Vegas casino with ten other guys.
What is so great about this film is that almost the entire movie is the heist itself. Whether it\'s the cons that need to be done before the actual heist date or the things that go wrong during the amazing robbery, the film is constantly entertaining. The DVD just adds more things to enjoy this film.
There are two different behind-the-scenes features that are both interesting with great interviews with all the cast and filmmakers. One just shows how much fun the entire crew had. The other is called \"The Look of the Con,\" which researches the design of the costumes and other aspects to make the film look as grandiose as it actually is.
Another great aspect of this disc is the two commentaries. One is with director Steven Soderbergh and writer Ted Griffin that analyzes everything that went into the technical aspects of making the film. While it's a really good commentary, the second track, one that includes the voices of Damon, Garcia and Pitt lets you in on little things the viewer won\'t, or can\'t, pick up on. But, its real purpose is to just add more entertainment. The trio spend a lot of time silent because they get caught up in the film, but when they do talk it usually is pretty interesting. Whether it\'s Pitt laughing at his own jokes or Damon doing a couple of amazing impressions of producer Jerry Weintraub, the entire track is just as fun as the film itself.
There\'s really no explanation for why Clooney didn\'t join the three in the commentary, since he was Ocean and the leader of the group, but even without his comments the DVD is still a worthy purchase.
'Ocean's' a DVD steal
