Power Pad - "World Class Track Meet"
For: Nintendo
By: Nintendo
Nintendo has set a new high bar on radical gaming. Not only has the 8-bit wonder created such masterpiece games like "Ice Hockey" and "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out," but the Japanese powerhouse has outdone themselves with their new virtual reality gaming. We were amazed with the new technology of "Duck Hunt," where your TV would know exactly where you were pointing your gun, but now there is a new and wonderous toy for us kids to run, jump and frolic with, literally. Introducing, "The Power Pad!"
No, it's not an amazing new vibrating mattress or a high-priced lawyer's Manhattan apartment; it's the new totally tubular Twister-like mat that simulates Olympic events. This is the closest you'll ever get to being Carl Lewis or, dare I say, "Flo-Jo." They were awesome in Olympics this year, but 1988 is the year of the virtual Olympics.
The Power Pad comes with the game "World Class Track Meet" and it features some of the most mind-bending graphics with lifelike colors like red, green and blue, but the real kicker is the gameplay. Now with the invention of the P.P. (We don't have time to spell everything out, get with the times, dude.), you don't just sit on the couch with your little two-button controller in your fat hands, you get to replicate every move your character makes. Or really, your character replicates everything you do. Every step you take, every move you make (no, Sting will not be watching you), but the Nintendo will be emulating you, and you'll be out of breath in no time.
The four events you can beat your competitors in are the 100-meter dash, the long jump, the 110-meter hurdles and the triple jump. You can type in your own name and go through a gnarly tournament with all your rad friends. Buy this game now and start to get in shape by playing video games because Don Johnson doesn't have to be the only one who looks good in a white suit.
The fun of video games, plus a workout!
