BEDFORD -- Three firefighters suffered minor injuries during a fire that destroyed two businesses and damaged a third in the city\'s downtown.\nThe fire that destroyed a Subway sandwich shop and a Dollar General store and damaged a flower shop began about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.\n\"There was smoke coming out of the building when I got here, then the front windows blew out, and then fire came rushing out,\" building owner Kim Henderson said.\nBlack smoke was billowing from the building when firefighters arrived in the city about 60 miles south of Indianapolis, Assistant Fire Chief Dave Taylor said.\n\"The top section of the exterior wall has fallen in,\" Taylor said. \"The building is pretty well gone.\"\nThe businesses were closed and no one was inside the building when the fire started. Three of the 37 firefighters at the scene reported minor injuries.\nTaylor had no estimate on damages and said that investigators did not yet know the cause of the fire.\nHenderson, whose Subway store had been there since 1996, had owned the building for 10 months and estimated the total losses between the two stores to be more than $500,000.
