Michigan defeats team

The men's tennis team wanted to avenge its recent 5-2 loss to Michigan at the Big Ten tournament hosted by Ohio State. But the 11th-seeded Hoosiers were beaten 4-2 by the sixth-seeded Wolverines.\nThe Hoosiers (7-16, 1-10 Big Ten) got wins only at the No.1 and No.4 positions. Senior Milan Rakvica beat his opponent 7-6 (2), 6-4 at the No.1, and senior Rahman Smiley, who has been plagued with injuries this season, won 6-3, 6-4.\nIU dropped all three of its doubles matches, but only after a tiebreaker at the No.3, where Reid Strand and Jakub Praibis lost 9-8 (8-6).\nThe No. 2 doubles lost 8-5, which meant the No. 1 team of Zach Held and Ryan Recht abandoned their match.\nIU was down 0-1 going into the singles matches, where they dropped three of the five.\nThe Wolverines went on to lose to Minnesota in the second round. The Golden Gophers moved on to the final match, where they fell to Illinois, 4-1.
