40 Days and 40 Nights - R\nStarring: Josh Hartnett, Shannyn Sossamon, \nDirected by: Michael Lehmann\nShowing: Showplace East 11\nMatt Sullivan (Josh Hartnett) is sick of being a male slut. It's all about sex and no commitment since he and the love of his life Nicole (Vinessa Shaw) broke up. After some good talks with his priest-in-training brother, Matt decides to give up sex for Lent, "40 Days and 40 Nights."\nMatt gives up anything and everything that can even lead to sex, including masturbation. It's a long and rough road for Matt, especially when he meets the girl of his dreams, Erica (Shannyn Sossamon). \nThis tedious road for Matt is a hysterical one. Among the many tactics Matt uses to get his mind off sex, is building model cars as a hobby. Contributing to the humorous scenes is his roommate Neil (Paulo Costanzo) who begs Matt to break the vow of celibacy so he'll stop acting so weird. Costanzo made us laugh in "Road Trip" and does just as good of a job in this movie.\nThe best thing about Matt is how goofy he is. I couldn't even keep track of how many times he trips and falls in the movie. The things he does to keep from having any kind of sex are hysterical. To see him go from a complete male whore to a love-struck puppy is a bit of an unrealistic stretch, but I enjoyed it anyway.\nNo doubt every girl in the audience was already madly in love with Josh Hartnett. Now to see him in a totally intimate scene with a girl where he doesn't even touch her and yet she… well, you'll just have to wait and see, is totally erotic! Guys will find the scene stupid, and girls will wonder why guys like Matt don't go to IU. \n"40 Days and 40 Nights" has the sweetness of a romantic comedy and yet the raunchiness of "American Pie." The movie tries to accommodate a male and female audience, and it certainly succeeds. Guys will see what they like (boobs, sex, porn) and girls will see what they like (Josh Hartnett, Josh Hartnett, Josh Hartnett). \nForget what you hated about Hartnett in "Pearl Harbor" and "Blow Dry" (Who's really seen that movie anyway?) Hartnett is back and on a new career path to success. "40 Days and 40 Nights" proves he can make the girls swoon and the guys laugh all in one movie.\n
Hartnett not a jerk-off after all
