Welcome to World Oysterhead

A place where music is king

Welcome to the otherworldly realm of Oysterhead. It's a dimension unlike any other. There are open spaces as far as the eye can see. Colors fly by and collide with one another in a psychedelic cornucopia of hues. Freedom rings loud and clear for man and beast. Music is king. And everybody dances.\nJust pop The Grand Pecking Order into your CD player and you'll find yourself there as if from a dream. Trey Anastasio (Phish), Les Claypool (Primus) and Stewart Copeland (The Police) lead the festivities of a prog-rock, hippie parade where the metalheads converse with punks, hippies with yuppies, mods with rockers and so on down the line through the ages. Jimi Hendrix is there, up in front listening. Syd Barrett and Skip Spence commiserate in the corner. Keith Moon parties with John Bonham in the back. \nClaypool dances on stage, his bass playing vibrant as ever. Anastasio jigs and jives with guitar licks flowing like rivers of milk and honey. Copeland, ever smiling, strikes his skins like he hasn't a care in the world. "Mr. Oysterhead" takes your hand and guides you through the land of funk where George Clinton jams with Yes, Sly and the Family Stone with King Crimson. The sun rises over "Radon Balloon" on a day so bright you can see the flowers grow. The Black Sabbath roars of "Pseudo Suicide" dissolve into a whirlwind of guitar kaleidoscopes.\nEnjoy it while you can. Soon you'll wake up and be spiraled back into the world of disease and dysfunction from whence you came, devoid of any evidence of your journey but for a carefree lightness that courses through your veins. So pay attention and listen hard. Sing, dance and funk. Drink and be merry. And never, ever forget.\nRating: 9
