Tests show 'anthrax' at Wright was talcum

An on-campus test of a white powdery substance found at Wright Quad shows no indication of anthrax or any other biohazard, IU Police Department Lt. Jerry Minger said.\n"It was a type of talcum powder," he said.\nA test on the substance by the state health department will take longer, because the state has been inundated with suspicious substances to test.\nThe on-campus test took 24 hours to complete. Further testing will take longer, Minger said. \nBecause the substance found at Wright did not include any specific threat or specific target, Minger said that substance won't be the state's top priority.\nA Hazardous Materials crew responded to three anthrax scares on campus Tuesday. Crews found a powdery white substance in two Wright Quad bathrooms in the morning and returned to campus in the afternoon to remove a similar substance from a Forest Quad bathroom.\n A student said the substance found at Forest is Gold Bond medicated powder he spilled in the bathroom.\nOff campus Tuesday, a suspected case on North Park Avenue turned out to be a prank with flour.\n"We want people to use common sense and not to be paranoid," Minger said.
