Senior's tennis tourney short-lived

Senior Milan Rakvica took part in a national tennis tournament this week, but his stay in the ITA All-American Championships was not as long as he would have liked. In the main draw of a field that started with more than 300 participants, Rakvica dropped his first two matches and was eliminated from play. \nIn the opening round of the main draw, Rakvica fell to 13th seeded senior Tiago Ruffoni of Auburn, 7-6, 6-2. Rakvica was then defeated by Arkansas-Little Rock senior Mariano Pettigrosso, 6-2, 6-1 in the consolation bracket.\n"Milan is a good kid, and I believe in him," head coach Ken Hydinger said. "He had a bad tournament, but that is no reason to give up on him. He'll just have to come back, work hard at it, and get ready for the next one. It happens to the best of them."\nIU will resume fall competition October 26-29 when they travel to East Lansing, Michigan for the Region IV Championships.
